Danny Lopez
Danny “Little Red” Lopez was born on July 6th, 1952 in Ft. Duchesne, UT. He is of Ute Indian, Mexican, and Irish heritage. Lopez began boxing professionally on May 27th, 1971 knocking out Steve Flajole in round 1 in Los Angeles, California. He won his first 21 fights by knockout which still stands as one of the longest knockout win streaks ever. During that streak, all but one of his fights was in Los Angeles, a fact which could be credited to his popularity and loving fans in the area. In 1976, Danny claimed the WBC Featherweight Crown in a 15 round UD over David Kotey. “Little Red” would retain his title until February of 1980. During his reign as champion, Danny successfully defended his title 9 times and was named Ring Magazine’s Fighter of the Year. Danny “Little Red” Lopez retired in 1992 from the sport he so loves with a total record of 42-6 with 39 of those wins by knockout. He will always be remembered as the Little Red Legend and one of boxing’s all time greats.
